While attending a medical conference in Paris, American physician Dr. Ben McKenna, his wife, retired musical theater actress and singer Jo McKenna née Conway, and their adolescent son Hank McKenna decide to take a side trip to among other places Marrekesh, French Morocco. With a knife plunged into his back, Frenchman Louis Bernard, who the family met earlier in their bus ride into Marrakesh and who is now masquerading as an Arab, approaches Ben, cryptically whispering into Ben's ears that there will be an attempted assassination in London of a statesman, this news whispered just before Bernard dies. Ben is reluctant to provide any information of this news to the authorities because concurrently Hank is kidnapped by British couple, Edward and Lucy Drayton, who also befriended the McKennas in Marrakesh and who probably have taken Hank out of the country back to England. Whoever the unknown people the Draytons are working for have threatened to kill Hank if Ben divulges any information ... Imdb.com One of Hitchcock's best films! The plot will keep you on the edge of your seat. Will they find Hank in time? Can they stop the assassination? Will they be able to hold together long enough to see this unexpected and terrifying adventure through? I have seen both versions, yes the Jimmy Stewart and Doris film is the remake, and by far I liked this one the best. Of course it doesn't hurt that I am both a Doris Day fan and Jimmy Stewart fan. Grab some popcorn and head overseas to exotic Marrakesh and upscale London. 120 Minutes | Principal Cast James Stewart...Dr. Benjamin McKenna Doris Day...Josephine Conway McKenna Brenda de Banzie...Lucy Drayton Bernard Miles...Edward Drayton Ralph Truman...Inspector Buchanan Daniel Gélin...Louis Bernard (as Daniel Gelin) Filming Location(s) Marrakesh, Morocco Ouarzazate, Morocco London, England, UK Awards 1957 Oscar for Best Music, Original Song Jay Livingston Ray Evans For the song "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)".
