Rock Hudson ■ Gina Lollobrigida
Wealthy industrialist Robert Talbot arrives early for his annual vacation at his luxurious Italian villa to find three problems lying in wait for him. Firstly, his long-time girlfriend Lisa Fellini has given up waiting for him to pop the question and has decided to marry another man. Secondly, the major domo of his villa, Maurice Clavell, has turned the estate into a posh hotel to make some easy money while the boss isn't around. And, finally, the current guests of the "hotel" are a group of young American girls trying to fend off a gang of oversexed boys, led by Tony, who are 'laying siege' at the outer walls of the villa. Talbot, to his own surprise, finds himself becoming an overprotective chaperone. This movie is flat out hilarious! From Gina's Italian antics to Rock's turning prude, from the villa being rented out as a hotel to the tipsy bird. This is one of the movies my family likes to pull off the shelf and watch when we need a fluffy and funny movie to relax. This is romantic comedy at its best. They just cannot make movies like this any more. Fun and funny with two, rather three, romances going on spanning the generations. You will get a good chuckle out of what happens when Bobby Darin and the other young guys decide to out-do Rock Hudson, in an effort to get the young girls alone and out from under Rock's watchful eye. Don't miss this old classic - and don't forget to bring your funny-bone because you are gonna need it! Note: This movie has plenty of innuendo, in that almost innocent 60's way that came up with movies like Pillow Talk. . . 112 Minutes | Principal Cast Rock Hudson...Robert L. Talbot: Man is the only animal clever enough to build the Empire State Building, and stupid enough to jump off it! Robert L. Talbot: I can go to jail for what can happen to those girls! Lisa Helena Fellini: What can happen to them? There are four boys and six girls. That add up to ten, and there's a safety in numbers. Robert L. Talbot: There's more than mathematics and adding. Those boys look quite capable of dividing and multiplying! Robert L. Talbot: Lisa, believe me, no love affair can survive if the either part starts to think! Robert L. Talbot: Lisa, you aren't making any sense! Lisa Helena Fellini: I don't have to make sense! I'm Italian! Lisa Helena Fellini: Really they're very nice American boys. Robert L. Talbot: So was the Dalton gang. Lisa Helena Fellini: I don't care what train Mr. Talbot is taking. As long as he takes it. We don't want him here in Italy. I speak for the government. Goodbye. |
