Q&A with Rachel Dylan
1. End Game involves many different government agencies. What made you decide to write a story like that? I loved being able to bring NCIS, FBI, JAG, CIA, and the military all together to solve a string of murders. It was so much fun to have the different agencies working together, while at the same time recognizing that there was going to be some natural friction between the characters because of their jobs at their respective organizations.

2. Who are your main characters? Tell us a little about what makes them tick. End Game focuses on FBI Agent Bailey Ryan and NCIS Special Agent Marco Agostini. Bailey and Marco are very different. Bailey is a law-and-order type—largely driven by her legal experience. Marco, on the other hand, is more focused on getting the job done and cutting through the red tape. He hates bureaucracy and desk work, while Bailey realizes that sometimes you have to do the tedious tasks to get to the truth. Their work styles end up complimenting each other, and also provide a good amount of conflict.

3. How is the Capital Intrigue series different the Atlanta Justice series? While the Atlanta Justice series focused on lawyers, Capital Intrigue follows three women who all went to law school but chose different career paths. End Game is about Bailey Ryan, who decided to join the FBI after law school. Even though Bailey is not a practicing attorney, her law school training impacts how she works as an FBI agent.

4. Did you enjoy writing a book set in Washington, DC? Absolutely! I’ve been to DC many times, both for fun and for work. I spent my first summer in law school interning at the Department of Defense. It was such an amazing experience. |

5. What is the next book in the Capital Intrigue series about? Book 2 is about Layla Karam, who we meet in End Game. Layla is a Middle East analyst for the CIA, but her world gets turned upside down when she’s put on a special assignment for the CIA.
