My Review
They'll either kill each other or fall in love....
I must admit that I was predisposed to dislike both Grace and Daniel after turning the very last page of Petticoats And Cowboys book 1. So, when I picked up the second book, Calico Canyon, I wondered how in the world Mary Connealy could possibly get me to change my mind about them. But, by golly, she did it. She actually did it.
Oh sure, they still frustrated me at times, as the characters in the Petticoats And Cowboys series seem to do, but when I found out the 'why' behind everything, well, that started to change things. And then, as Grace warms up to the Reeves boys, finally earning their respect, plus Daniel's acceptance, and growing protectiveness, of his wife. Those pieces of the story convinced me.
Calico Canyon is a wild ride of a story. From a stowaway to a forced marriage, the intense winter elements to the untamed Texas landscape, toss in five boisterous little boys and add an unpleasant villain, Mary Connealy takes her readers on a real adventure. I definitely enjoyed the read, especially the showdown with the villain, and I am looking forward to more in the series....
