A Wedding For Julia
The Pebble Creek Amish book 3
by Vannetta Chapman
"I had the awesome experience of participating in a Bible study entitled, The Bible in 90 Days. It was during that study that I came across Genesis 24:67. ‘Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent, and she became his wife. He loved her deeply, and she was a special comfort to him after the death of his mother.’ I couldn't let go of that image of God providing a lifelong love for Isaac before he had even met the woman. And Isaac, he trusted God and married Rebekah. What a wonderful God we serve. Julia's story began there, in the pages of Genesis. I hope it is one that brings you hope, inspiration, and a touch of God's grace."
4-6 months. I'm usually done with the first draft in 4 months, but then it goes to my pre-readers. When it comes back to me, I go through it one more time before sending it on to my editors.
That would have to be Ada. I sort of planned on her not making it through the entire book, and I won't give anything away ... but I did fall in love with this Godly woman.
Hope! Our hope in Him is what sees us through so many situations. And of course, a fuller understanding of God's grace.
I knew we'd still be in Pebble Creek, and I wanted her on the more liberal side so that she could have the appliances she needed to cook. I also thought this was a good extension of A Home for Lydia where we had cabins run by the Amish. Why a cafe? Well, I think it's a common enough dream for those who know how to cook well ... no one would want me starting a cafe. lol.
There are many subplots in this story that tugged on my heart, like the young teenage girl who moves in with Caleb and Julia. I think we need to offer love and grace to the adolescents in our life ... and of course we need to appreciate the older members of our families. The Psalms are an important part as well. They're sprinkled throughout this manuscript. One of my favorites was
for He is right beside me."
Psalm 16:8
