The Redemption
Legacy Of The King's Pirates book 1
by M.L. Tyndall
Pirates of the Caribbean and God! My daughter and I became infatuated with the first pirate movie when it came out, which reignited an interest in pirates I'd had from my youth growing up in South Florida. Mind you, at this time, I'd never written a full novel. I was working full time at IBM and had six kids. The last thing on my mind was taking time to write a book! But I sincerely believe I heard God tell me to write a story about a Christian pirate. So I did! And The Redemption was born
I was working full time outside the home, so it took me about a year and a half.
I want them to have a great adventure! I want them to laugh and cry and bite their nails in suspense. But most of all, I want them to realize how much God loves them and that no matter whether they had a good or bad earthly father, God is the best father of all!
For this series, I just chose names I thought were cool. I took the name Merrick from a character in a movie I saw once about time travel back to Medieval times, but I can't remember the name now! And I took Charlisse from Charlize Theron who, in my mind, looks like my heroine. But I've since learned to do more research on names and select those that would have been used during the time period I'm writing in, as well as names that have certain meanings.
My daughter and I went down to Key West, Florida to attend a Pirate Festival. (For research purposes only, of course!) and while we were there we booked passage on a pirate ship that sailed around the bay. What we didn't realize was that we signed on to be part of a pirate wedding, officiated by the captain, right there on the deck of the ship! Both bride and groom were dressed in pirate garb too! It was really a lot of fun to watch!
I grew up without a father. Actually he was alive, he just wanted nothing to do with me. I didn't realize it at the time, but this complete destroyed my sense of self-worth. By the time I hit my 20's, I went searching for that unconditional love only a father can give, but I was soon disappointed when I realized no one could fill that void. The Redemption in a way mimics my own journey as I searched for a father's love, only to finally find it in the arms of my Heavenly Father.
