It's been a long time since I've read one of Miralee Ferrell's novels but Finding Love In Bridal Veil, Oregon looked interesting and I was in the mood for a straightforward historical romance. Like Bridal Veil, Oregon, my own hometown was founded on logging, mining too, so that made it even more intriguing to me.
I went into Finding Love In Bridal Veil, Oregon assuming I knew roughly how the story would play out. In some ways, it did, but, Miralee Ferrell also threw in some real surprises for me. The real highlight for me was all of the historical details that she wove into the story. Though not overdone, the turn of the century logging terms and practices were both familiar and particularly interesting.
I'll be the first to admit that love triangles are really not my cup of tea but Miralee Ferrell took it, and her characters, in an unexpected direction that made all the difference. I even found myself gradually changing my mind about certain characters. Of course, along the way I did wind up with some favorite characters, well two to be exact. Young Sammie who listens to the still small voice of God, and old mule teamster Julius who is surprising well of wisdom.
Finding Love In Bridal Veil, Oregon is nice easy read. It's definitely a historical romance but there is also some danger and suspense to liven things up. The author's note at the end is really worth reading so make sure to not miss it. If you are into the genre you should check this one out....
Tell Tale Book Reviews gives Finding Love In Bridal Veil, Oregon by Miralee Ferrell a 4 Bark rating.
The movie was everything a Hallmark movie should be; sweet, adorable, poignant, and totally heartwarming. It made the perfect hour and a half diversion as I sat covered in a fuzzy blanket while working on blog posts.
Take a little advice from me, Finding Love In Mountain Home is well worth watching on its own or in conjunction with the book. Take in the whole experience and don't miss either one this winter!

In the spring of 2015, I received a phone call from a Hollywood producer. Imagine my surprise when she asked if I’d be willing to write a book for them. They were no longer producing the Love Finds You books into movies and were working on a different project for UP TV, a possible three-movie series, and she hoped I might be able to work with them. Of the thirty-five or so titles she’d read of the line, Finding Love in Sundance, Wyoming, was her favorite (retitled and re-released as Outlaw Angel). However, most channels didn’t want historical or old west movies, so she shelved it for then. |
Here’s the amazing part. I came very, very close to turning down that contract with Summerside for Sundance. They sold the line to Guideposts, and that company didn’t continue the line much longer. Understandably, sales waned on their final releases. For a long time, I wished I hadn’t taken the contract and instead held out for one with another company for a three-book series. However, had I done that, I doubt Runaway Romance or the sequel, Follow Your Heart would ever have been written. It was Sundance that grabbed Chevonne’s attention and caused her to contact me.
