A Wrinkle In Time
Starring
Katie Stuart ■ Gregory Smith ■ David Dorfman
The movie is based on a children's series by the same name. Meg and Charles Wallace are aided by Calvin and 3 interesting women, Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who in the search for their father who disappeared during an experiment he was working on for the government. Their travels take them around the universe to a place unlike any other. They must learn to trust each other and to understand that everyone is different. I fell in love with A Wrinkle In Time nearly 20 years ago when my Dad read it, and the next book, A Wind In The Door, aloud to my little brother and I. It was one of my earliest introductions to fantasy and afterwards I spent many hours pretending to be Meg and saving the universe. I didn't hear about this movie version until it was released on DVD and I watched it with some little cousins who became a new generation of fans. No, this movie isn't exactly like the book. No movie ever is. But it is a wonderful fantasy movie in its own right. Sure, some of the graphics are cheesy, but then again CGI had a ways to go back in 2003. Great movie for the whole family. Parents will remember the book from childhood and a new generation will enjoy the adventures of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin. Who knows, you might just have to read the book.... Note: There are a few spots small children might find a bit scary. 128 Minutes | Primary Cast Katie Stuart...Meg Murry Gregory Smith...Calvin O'Keefe David Dorfman...Charles Wallace Murry Chris Potter...Dr. Jack Murry Kyle Secor...The Man With Red Eyes Seán Cullen...Happy Medium Sarah-Jane Redmond...Dr. Dana Murry Kate Nelligan...Mrs. Which Alison Elliott...Mrs. Who Alfre Woodard...Mrs. Whatsit Filming Location(s) Richmond, British Columbia, Canada Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Quotes Charles Wallace Murry: I should introduce you both to Mrs. Whatsit. Charles Wallace Murry: No. She's just as real as you and me. Maybe even realer. Meg Murry: You know what? I think I liked it better when you didn't talk. Charles Wallace Murry: Calvin likes me talking to him. Calvin O'Keefe: You know, I'm not sure why, but I kind of do. Calvin O'Keefe: Your family, you're all... something... I don't know what. Meg Murry: We're mostly just ordinary. Calvin O'Keefe: No, I don't think so. Not as ordinary as you think. Calvin O'Keefe: I'd come with you if they'd let me. Meg Murry: I know. Calvin O'Keefe: I'd kiss you, but your dad's here. [Meg laughs] Meg Murry: I'm ready. Mrs. Which: Meg, I have prided myself for my wisdom, but you have taught me much. |
