The first thing that attracted me to this film was finding out that Lost On A Mountain In Maine was based on a true story. It was real. And both the film and story are utterly fascinating...
I was impressed with the movie from start to finish. The starkness really lent to the desperation of Donn to return to his family and of Mr. and Mrs. Fendler to find their son. The addition of interview clips and actual footage inserted at just the right places was poignant and I found that they immersed me within the story – and the emotion of the story – in a whole new way.
And if there is one thing that this film is, it's emotionally moving. As both Donn and his father have to come to terms with mistakes made and their own cracked relationship. Family is the most important thing in the world and Lost On A Mountain In Maine champions that fact.
The movie is well made and I loved that they kept the 1939 setting instead of modernizing it or keeping it ambiguous. As a side note, it is a family friendly film not an overtly Christian one so there is some minor language etc.
Anyway, it's a good movie and one that I would definitely watch again if I had the chance. It's one of those movies that middle to older kids can watch as can adults with or without children. So, if you love movies based on true stories or just enjoy a good adventure film check out Lost On A Mountain In Maine...
