Wow! What an experience! The combination of livestream event and then listening to the songs again in my own time has been both powerful and moving...
Honestly, I hadn't yet heard of Anne Wilson's debut song, “My Jesus,” when I received the invitation to the livestream of her debut album of the same name. But, also having never attended a livestream event even remotely close to this one I decided that it sounded like it might be fun. Little did I know...
From the very first I was completely blown away by the powerful voice and message coming from this slip of a young girl! The faith and maturity that shines through her voice, the lyrics, and her stage presence is a bit mind-boggling for one of her age. And I'm not even touching on the way her upbeat music made me feel encouraged and a little bit more energetic. To say I was impressed would be an understatement.
The message in “My Jesus,” both the song and the album, is one that we all need to hear. Every single one of has been kicked around by life and we have all felt discouraged more than once in our lives. But the reminders that flow out from Anne Wilson's debut album – reminders that God fights the battle for us in Scatter, that we have value to Him no matter what other people say in Hey Girl, that God is stronger than anything we face in Devil, that when it seems like all else has failed or gone wrong Jesus is still there right with us...
I came away from the livestream greatly encouraged, something I apparently needed right now, and reminded of exactly why I do trust Him for everything, even my every breath... Trust me, I will be back listening to this album again when I need another musical reminder...
