“Do you do that for all your students?” Betha couldn’t conceal her surprise. “Break up their academic level by subject?”
Colm didn’t appear fazed by her challenge. “Yes, ma’am. I utilize the Lancaster education model, which allows for students to excel at what comes naturally to them while steadily working at what doesn’t.”
Whatever the Lancaster model was, it sounded newfangled, and Betha wondered what Seamus would think. But she wouldn’t give away to Colm that she wished her teacher had used such a model when she was a child. Besides, Henry’s dislike of writing made his eyes simply glow at the suggestion.
“I can do the evaluation, can’t I, Ma?”
Betha looked to Colm.
“I could evaluate him now if you have time, Mrs. Young. It won’t take long.”
“Miss.” Betha cringed at the implication left by Henry’s address. Un til now, she’d never felt obligated to correct the title he’d used for her since he was five. What compelled her to want to ensure this man knew the truth of their relationship?
“I’m Henry’s guardian but in truth only his aunt.”
