I love to read stories set in Montana, even if the areas are fictional, as there is just some much that the 4th largest state has to offer romantic suspense! From rugged terrain to spotty cell phone signal there are a lot of hurdles for a hero and heroine to overcome while in pursuit of kidnappers and killers. That, is exactly what Daisy and Martin come up against in Hostage Pursuit. Plus author Jenna Night tosses in a few more surprises, many quite unpleasant, for her characters to deal with! But this wouldn't be a Rock Solid Bounty Hunters novel without all of that now would it?

I enjoyed the first Rock Solid Bounty Hunters novel but I think I liked this one even more. Author Jenna Night really upped the ante in Hostage Pursuit. Not only was the suspense a little grittier but I loved the angle of both main characters being bounty hunters who are good at their jobs. Daisy is one tough lady who can more than keep up with Martin, her handsome hero. Anyway, if you take my recommendation you'll check this book out...

I quite enjoyed the first book in the Doors To The Past series so picking up the next one was kind of a 'well, duh!' thing. I can honestly say that I liked this one almost as much as the first one. Of course, they are all different as each one has a unique historical setting and each of them has a different author. In fact, I've actually read a couple of Pepper D. Basham's other books and I think I may have enjoyed this one the most.

Pepper D. Basham takes her readers from the fictional Blackwell's book shop to the spectacular real Biltmore estate all the way to the lovely shores of rural England in a story that spans the decades and generations. Hope Between The Pages is well chosen for this story of unexpected love, obstacles overcome, heartbreaking loss, and faith held onto despite the odds. My gamut of emotions were all certainly well used by the time I turned the last page.

If you enjoy dual-timeline stories I highly recommend Barbour's Doors To The Past series. Each one can be read standalone or you can read them in order. Not one is to be missed and I'm looking forward to the next one's release...

This book sat on the arm of the couch after I got it. I wanted to put in my TBR stack but just couldn't seem to. It kept reminding me that it was there wanting to be read. I had several other books ahead of it that I needed to finish first. And I tried, I really did, but it was no use. Finally I gave in...

I have two confessions to get out of the way. First, despite most of my online book friends raving about her books this is the first one that I've read by Jody Hedlund. The second is that I've never really been into time travel stories, sure, I've read a few but they are not something I usually gravitate towards. However, there was just something about Come Back To Me that really caught my attention. It was probably the eye-catching cover that Bethany House designed, one of my favorites so far this year, that started it all, but still...

I started Come Back To Me with my eyes wide open. Few authors take on time travel and even fewer do so successfully. And because this was my first Jody Hedlund book I had no illusions and nothing to color my expectations. I did, however, know that Bethany House invariably puts out really good books no matter the genre. I was not disappointed in any way...

The story was very well written, modern thread and historical alike. I genuinely cared about the characters. I also thought I had the villain figured out, but, boy, was I wrong! But, what I loved the most was the era that Jody Hedlund chose for her first Waters Of Time book. The Peasants Revolt. Not an era usually chosen, a lot is known about it but there's also lots of room for speculation and for storytelling. I also appreciated how she kept the belief in miracles prevalent at that time alive and unjudged by today's rationalism. So, yes, I very much enjoyed Come Back To Me and I'm definitely looking forward to the next Waters Of Time novel...

Amish Romantic Suspense is a fast growing sub-genre that I've been enjoying since reading my first Marta Perry book a few years ago. Since then Dana R. Lynn has become one of my absolute favorite authors of Amish romantic suspense and I have fallen in love with her exciting Amish Country Justice series.

The amnesia trope has been used many times before, but, every so once in awhile an author will either bring something new to the table or will make it so interesting it seems new. Deadly Amish Reunion is one of those. Dana R. Lynn did a great job with it, keeping me intrigued and invested in whether Jennie and Luke would be able to survive the danger and piece a new and different life together.

As you can probably guess I enjoyed Deadly Amish Reunion. It was one wild buggy ride of peril and romance that kept me on the edge of my seat. Poor Luke, Jennie, and their son were run through the wringer with this story! But that was what made this ninth Amish Country Justice novel so much fun to read...

My Thoughts

I haven't read this book in probably 20 years. I was probably a tween or early teen when I discovered it on the library shelves and brought it home. At that time I had no clue that the series would span over 40 books, at least 2/3 of which I would read, or that it would encourage my love of Christian historical fiction as much as it did. By today's standards the writing is a bit simplistic but this book, and The House Of Winslow series in general, has been the introduction to Christian fiction for many readers. Like Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series there is no telling the impact that Gilbert Morris and his House Of Winslow series has had on at least 3 generations of readers. If you've never read any of these books you should really pick one up...why not start with book 1 The Honorable Imposter...

My Review

No matter what, his choices come out wrong...

I've been waiting for this book since first starting The True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone series. I wanted to see Rem's conscience start to wake up and needle him about the choices he's made during his time travels. Finally, Sticks And Stones delivered just that.

Time Travel is not a genre that I usually go to but this series from the super talented combination of James Rubart, Susan May Warren, and David Warren intrigued me and has held my attention through three books. I've been enjoying the suspense/thriller plots as well as trying to guess what new disastrous results of Rem's meddling with history will hit him next. And they will nail him harder each time than the last.

David James Warren brings up some great questions in Sticks And Stone, and the entire series for that matter, from man's mortality to free will versus fate, and whether the things that make up the past happened the way they were supposed to the first time. This book is also a great reminder of how easily even our tiniest choices can affect the people around, for good or for bad. Definitely a lot to ponder...which is not bad for a quick reading time travel story...

My Review

The Maker's call isn't always an easy one...

The stakes have never been higher for Carya and Brantley. This time they have the world to save and everything to lose. Sharon Hinck has upped her game making Windward Shore, the exciting conclusion to her Dancing Realms series, even more tense and fun to read.

I generally speaking avoided fantasy for years, and other than a few select books just never seemed to get into the genre. But a few years ago I found a series that changed my mind and because of that I've discovered some very talented authors like Sharon Hinck and their amazing stories. Seriously, The Dancing Realms series is exactly what fantasy is supposed to be, what it's MEANT to be! And I'm just sorry that with Windward Shore I am now saying goodbye to some very dear friends that I've come to love over the course of three books.

Windward Shore is a very entertaining read, it engrosses the reader and keeps them invested in what happens to the characters. But, there's a lot more to the story. Life and spiritual lessons are well woven into the patterns of story. Sharon Hinck is a master at her craft and it shows in this book and in the rest of The Dancing Realms novels. She uplifts and encourages readers while successfully telling some pretty wonderful stories.

I can say without hesitation that I would heartily recommend Windward Shore and the rest of the Dancing Realms series to YA and adult readers alike. Whether fantasy is your cup of tea or not Sharon Hinck is an author you definitely won't want to miss...

My Review

Danger lurks in the shadows...

My family can tell you that I got pretty caught up in The Silver Shadow and spent the day, between chapters that is, mumbling to myself about a crazy killer who thought they were doing God's work by attacking women on their way home from church! Seriously, author Liz Tolsma really got me going with her latest addition to the True Colors series.

As I've read through the True Colors historical romance / true crime series I've already been aware of several of the historic crimes featured. But not so with The Silver Shadow. The Capitol Hill Thug crime wave from August 1900 through February 1901 was a totally new one one me. But, I'm always up for learning something new from history.

Overall I enjoyed this book from Liz Tolsma. It was an interesting and entertaining read. The hero and heroine were great and you couldn't help but like them both. The author's note at the end of the book was quite fascinating as she lays out the fact from the fiction. I honestly wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Silver Shadow, the entire True Colors series, or even Liz Tolsma's other historical romance titles. Just don't forget to check over your shoulder the next time you are out walking alone...

One of the most popular questions I’ve gotten from many readers of the True Colors Crime series is how do I come up with the ideas for the books? But when I was putting together the proposals for The Gold Digger and The Silver Shadow, it was up to me to find the true crimes I wanted to use.

I went online and scoured historical crime blogs and books for ideas. I wanted crimes that I could work easily with, that made for compelling stories. As I was doing this, my husband and two daughters and I were driving home from Georgia. We were somewhere in Indiana. Don’t ask me why I remember this when I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night, but I do.

And then on Google Books, I discovered a book about crimes the world had forgotten. The first one in there sounded so good. Not too grisly, something that no one would be able to guess the culprit very easily. It was perfect. Imagine my excitement when Becky told me they would be publishing The Silver Shadow.

Then I sat down to research it more. And I could hardly find anything! What? Where was all the information on this? There had to be more. That chapter in the one book couldn’t be all there was. He had to get his information from somewhere.

Eventually I did come across some articles from various Colorado newspapers with a few details. Not many at all. None from any of the Denver papers, even though that’s where the crimes were committed

In the end, that’s all the information I discovered. In a way, it was freeing. I could write whatever I wanted, and no one would be the wiser. Even if they did some research and some digging, there wasn’t much to find. I was able to take the facts that I did have, combine that with what I found out about Denver in 1900, and put it together in a story. I tried to use historical details wherever I could, but of my four True Colors Crimes books, this is the most fictional of them all.

My Review

Water is rising and so is the danger...

If a person is going to try out a new-to-them author and a new line of romantic suspense novels, Danger Rising is the way to go! Seriously, every bit of Jerusha Agen's latest from Love Inspired Suspense is tense and really keeps you glued to the page!

Love Inspired Suspense has been known for quite a few years now for their well written 220ish page romantic suspense titles. But, they have now delved into full-length novels. Danger Rising is one of, if not the, first 300+ page offerings. I've been a fan of the shorter ones for several years so I was pretty excited to hear about this book from Jerusha Agen.

Between you and me, though, what really caught my attention was the K-9 bomb-sniffer on the cover. I love K-9 stories whether they are therapy dogs or law enforcement, hey I even love romantic suspense with a good pet dog.

As to how I liked the story and the new-to-me author? Well, both were not bad at all. In fact, Jerusha Agen had me so into the lives of her characters that I had a love/hate with Bristol, though I sincerely liked Remington 'Rem'. If an author can elicit that much emotion out of me I'd say they were pretty good. Danger Rising was a great read and it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if the bomber would succeed...
