Capital Intrigue book 3
by Rachel Dylan
-From Goodreads- When State Department attorney Vivian Steele witnesses two ambassadors collapse as if poisoned at a diplomatic dinner in Washington, DC, she is recruited to be a member of a joint FBI task force assigned to investigate. But she soon finds her by-the-book ways clashing with a special agent in the Diplomatic Security Service, Jacob Cruz. A former Navy SEAL and in charge of the event's security, Jacob takes the attack personally and is driven to act quickly, even ahead of the rules and regulations. As Viv starts to work her diplomatic sources, her past as a State Department lawyer comes back to haunt her, and secrets held tightly by the government thrust her into a web of danger. Afraid, Viv turns to the one man bent on protecting others. But can she accept Jacob's reckless ways as exactly what she needs to stay alive and to discover the truth behind the attacks? ISBN-13: 9780764234323 Can they work together long enough to survive? In many ways I have not been looking forward to this book. Not because I dislike the author or anything, but because I'm sorry to be saying goodbye to the characters of the Capital Intrigue series. As much as I love starting a new series from Rachel Dylan I also hate knowing that with each page I turn in the that final book I am that much closer to the end. Was Power Play a good read? Yep! Sure was! Am I sad that it's the conclusion to a great series? Definitely. | This Book received a 4 Bark rating. |
This third Capital Intrigue novel really kept me guessing. There were so many threads of mystery that criss-crossed each other, and there may be a little double-crossing as well, that I was never quite sure who I thought was ultimately guilty. However, as always, Rachel Dylan expertly tied those threads together and I was left quite pleased to have been at least partially right.
If you like legal thrillers and romantic suspense, I would highly recommend Rachel Dylan's exciting Capital Intrigue series. Power Play and its predecessors bring criminal justice to life in a vivid and entertaining way and will keep you glued to the page whether it's print or digital. Don't miss any of them!
Tell Tale Book Reviews gives Power Play by Rachel Dylan a 4 Bark rating.
