There was nothing to dislike in this book at all. Terri Blackstock is a master at the Suspense genre and each new book just seems to be even better than the last. I was pulled in from the first page and couldn't put it down until my eyes wouldn't stay open any longer. Gosh, when you start with a murder in the very first chapter, well, you really get the readers hooked that way!

I loved reading mystery books as a kid and I still do, but it seems like so many of the stories are ones I just can't morally read. Terri Blackstock's books are the perfect answer for someone that loves suspense and wants the full thrill without sacrificing quality. The stories, and Distortion in particular, are well written, thought provoking, and gripping. The emotional depth of the characters is well done, you feel everything they do along with them. Even as a single girl with no children I still felt Juliet's fear, shock, and hurt, her mama-bear attitude when someone goes after her children. This book engages your emotions and also your senses. I would suggest leaving the light on after reading Distortion at night....

Even the dramatic cover has a way of drawing the reader in and making them want to read the contents. I would definitely say kudos to the Zondervan team for their presentation of the story and also to Terri for once again leaving her readers begging for more.

Distortion is a must read for any fan of Terri Blackstock and Christian Suspense!

This trilogy of novellas has come as a surprise to me. I'm not usually a huge reader of fantasy/epic fiction, usually sticking with Narnia and Middlearth, but I have sincerely enjoyed and looked forward to reading each of these stories. I am very sorry to be saying goodbye to the peoples of Diachona and Munda.

This is the story of a young man, scarcely older than a boy really, who must navigate the muddy waters of local and foreign politics when he is rather abruptly thrust into the job of king. Mourning the loss of the previous monarch, he must rise above his grief for the sake of his family and his people. Between an epidemic and citizens talking of rebellion will he be able to court and win the girl he loves?
In many ways The Movement Of Kings is a wonderful coming-of-age story. I enjoyed watching the young Alexander growing, changing, and maturing in his role as king and as a man. He genuinely desires to do what it right for all of his people even when they are determined to make that difficult. Alexander is a GOOD king weighed down by the expectations of others – expectations he isn't sure he can live up to – but with the help of his father and several wise friends he goes on the journey toward becoming a GREAT king.

As I said before, I am sorry to be saying goodbye to my Diachonian and Mundayne friends so I'm glad that I can open my Kindle app and revisit them in the future. The story is both simple and easy to read yet complex and detailed in the political arena and geography. I am very impressed with the thought and detail that Nadine C. Keels has put into every aspect, from the political structure to gowns and hairstyles, from geography to state traditions, in each of the books in this series.

Lots of politics, some danger, definitely romance, make this short book a good and satisfying read.

“Ah, thank you, Denny.” Drew glanced over at Madeline and her American, stopped on the other side of the room, admiring a landscape by William Linton. “See to things here for me, will you, Nick?”

He excused himself and went into the study to take the call.

“Roger, old boy, where in the world are you? We’re all pretty keen to get better acquainted with this Bohemian of yours. If this Clarice is going to make you late to the best parties, she’d dashed better be worth it.” He was answered only by silence. “Roger? You there?”

“Drew.”

Roger’s voice was scarcely a whisper, and so broken that Drew knew he wouldn’t have recognized it if he hadn’t known who it was.

“Drew. Oh . . .”

Drew heard a wrenching sob, then silence once more.

“Roger? I say, Roger!”

“You’ve got to help me. I just . . . I don’t . . . Sweet mercy, she’s dead. She’s dead.”

“What?”

“She’s dead, I tell you. Clarice is dead. You’ve got to come, Drew. To her cottage.”

“Roger—”

“You’ve got to come. She’s dead. You’ve got to come.”

“All right, all right. Get a grip on yourself. Tell me what’s happened.”

Again there was silence.

“Roger?”

“She, uh . . .” Roger sniffled and then caught his breath. “She didn’t come to the front door when I called for her, so I went round to the back. The door wasn’t locked, and I went inside. I found her sitting in that big modern chair she’d just got, the zebra one. I thought she’d fallen asleep, but when I touched her, she was cold. You’ve got to come, Drew. You see, you’ve absolutely got to.”

“All right, old man. I’ll be there directly once I’ve rung the police.”

“No.” Roger made a little whimpering sound. “They’ll think I’ve done it. They’ll think I’ve done them all.”

“All? All what?”

“Drew, she had one of those horrible notes pinned into her. Like the other two. Dear God, help me.”

“Dear God, help me,” Drew breathed heavenward. What was this about? What could Clarice Deschner possibly have to do with the other victims?

"Drew,” Roger pleaded, “you are coming, aren’t you?”

“Yes, straightaway. Hold on, and whatever else, don’t touch anything.”

“I pulled out that ghastly pin. I couldn’t stand it anymore.”

That was the worst thing he could have done. Now the police were certain to suspect him.

“It’s all right,” Drew soothed. “Just sit down somewhere and don’t disturb anything else. Do you understand?”

All that came from the other end of the line was another low whimper.

“Do you understand?”

“Yes, all right, but you’ve got to hurry. Oh, Clarice . . .”

Once again Hallee Bridgeman has penned an amazing Suspense story that will pull the reader in from page one to the end. I absolutely loved this story! I started reading An Aria For Nick and only put it down when life rudely intruded, and even then I found myself thinking about the story and wondering what would happen next.

The story is fascinating, fast paced, and has many unexpected twists and turns. Just when you think you might have it all figured out...you don't.
Interspersed with the action are touches of humor that liven up the storyline. Some of Hallee's phrasing is hilarious! I found myself laughing outright in several places.
That is one of the main things that I have enjoyed in this series, the perfect balance of humor and romance that offsets the action and suspense.

Themes of forgiveness, caring for and protecting those we love, sacrifice, and patriotism are prominent in An Aria For Nick. I really like how Hallee Bridgeman has woven threads of faith into the story that are both strong and yet subtle at the same time. In some ways the story is a little edgy but only the right ways and places.

The only thing I had a little trouble with was the use of quite a few acronyms but that was taken care of with a list of them including explanations at the back of the book.

If you have read any of Hallee's previous stories you know what a treat is waiting for you in An Aria For Nick. If you haven't read any than I suggest doing so ASAP, they are that good! Don't miss any of the books in the Song Of Suspense series!

The When Calls The Heart series has always been dear to my heart. The first four books were given to me by my Mom as a gift when I turned 10, they were my very first Janette Oke books and I read them through two or three times. Later I bought the fifth and sixth books on my own. I was so thrilled to find out that Janette and Laurel had decided to revisit that wonderful series and tell the story of a new Beth Thatcher. Where Courage Calls did not disappoint any way!

I really liked Beth. She was the image of what every growing Christian should be, she prayed for strength, she asked God to help her with her failings, she did her best to share her faith and encourage the faith of others. She might have been a little idealistic but with her own sense and the wise help of some good friends she manages to genuinely help the town in her time there.
The romance was light and understated. I honestly wondered which of the two men would start to catch her interest though I had my own favorite the entire time.
Two of Beth's more interesting relationships are between her and the mother figures in her life. Her relationship with her mother is a bit rocky with her mother's over-protectiveness. The woman that runs the boarding house encourages, instructs, and helps Beth not only aid the town but also learn a little bit about real life.

Janette Oke has been a staple in Christian Fiction for years and for good reason, she knows how to write a good story and it seems like they only get better with each one. Her daughter, Laurel Oke Logan, brings something extra to the stories that they write together, I remember how powerful Dana's Valley was as to me as a then-teenage reader.

I really can't say enough positive things about this book! The only problem was.... that it isn't longer!
I enjoyed every page of Where Courage Calls, the characters were great, the scenery was well painted, and most of all it was a good story. I sincerely hope that there is a sequel to this story published in the near future, I would most definitely read it!

After reading so many Amish stories that take place in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Ohio, it was a refreshing break to read one that is set in a completely different state, or as in this case states, Colorado and Arkansas. Taken For English is actually two stories in one book, the contemporary story of Annie and Ruth and the young men they have fallen in love with, and it's also the 1892 story of Maura and Joseph and a town with a feud.

The contemporary section follows the perspective of mostly three people, the historical section is divided between Maura and Joseph. Sometimes the switches between people left me going back a line or two to catch up.

This story has a little bit of everything. Mystery comes in the form of an unknown arsonist torching empty buildings. Romance in the form of 3 couples one of which is nearly a triangle. The typical Amish theme of Ruth's desire to be a nurse and having left the church is balanced with Englisher Annie's decision to join the church and make her life amongst the Amish. This book also delves into some interesting and rather new territory of psychological problems and the Amish, a young woman needs help, will she be able to get it?

One of the things I liked about this story is the maturity of the young characters, their determination to do what is right. They exhibit patience, kindness, and a love and loyalty to family that we could all learn from. They also look to right right place, God, when things are not easy and when they are going well.

I definitely enjoyed Taken For English but I do think I will go back and read the first two books in the series to get a little more background. It won't spoil the story in the least for me to have read book three first.

Any lover of Amish fiction will enjoy this book and series from Olivia Newport.

ANOTHER DELIGHTFUL TREAT FOR THE THOUSANDS WHO ENJOYED "YOURS, MINE and OURS"!

Since the death of her husband, Abby McClure has had to be mother, father and breadwinner - taking over operation of the family lumber store business - to her three sons. Her sister, Maxine Scott, has tried to be matchmaker for Abby, much to her exasperation as Abby sees men eligible to her as those she would rather not associate. Abby changes her mind when Maxine reminds her of a casual acquaintance, widowed chemical engineer Jake Iverson, who she has not seen or thought about in six or seven years from before her husband's death. Based on some unfortunate situations and some misunderstandings, Abby and Jake's new-found relationship does not start off well. When a serious courtship does begin, their respective children - most specifically Abby's oldest, late teen Flip McClure, and Jake's only offspring, late teen Stacey Iverson - are their biggest obstacles as Flip and Stacey don't want their role of male and female head of their respective household replaced. When Abby and Jake eventually get married, one other pressure is how they will live while both their too small houses wait to be sold. Can their marriage survive all these issues?

Another top comedy from Doris Day!

This movie shows the hilarious results of what happens when Doris Day and Brian Keith decide to blend their families. Everything from a little boy finding "A man in mommy's bed!" to a young miss learning what it truly means to be 'the lady of the house'.

I love this movie! It's a funny family story that anyone who has ever had kids or cared for them will certainly appreciate.
Many of you older people will remember reading Erma Bombeck's columns and books, this movie reminds me a little bit of some of Erma's stories.

It's hilarious, it's fun, and you won't really have to worry about hiding the kiddo's eyes.
This is a great movie with some 60's innuendo that is, considering today's culture, more innocent-funny than anything else.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for some familiar faces from M*A*S*H, you might be a little surprised by one of them...or not.

Anyway, if you enjoy comedy movies that are family themed you just might want to check out this one.

Once again I started a Crossing's book by Carrie Daws, once again I was unable to put it down, and finished it in short order.

Returning to Crossing, Oregon, we get to check in with old friends and find out more about some of them. This book focuses on Amber, from Crossing Values, and her continued healing from events in her past. It also focuses on, Patricia, a 75 year old woman with secrets and a need for healing of her own. Despite their difference in age can these two women help each other on the road to healing? Will sudden and shocking events derail all they've worked toward?

Like its predecessors, Crossing's Redemption features Christians facing real-life trials and hurts. Characters learn to face their pasts so that God can take them into the hopeful futures He has planned for them.

This Book earned a 4 Bark rating.

Walking back into the lives of her old friends in Crossing, Oregon, is the last thing Melody wants to do, but could she be missing something?

Melody must decide if God is trustworthy even when she doesn't like His plan. Is He really in control? Does He have a plan and a family for Melody in Fort Bragg?

A heart-wrenching story of making one's way through tragedy and loss and finding God.

Once again, Carrie Daws writes a short story that is thought provoking and will keep the reader engrossed. I started Romancing Melody while waiting for a ride and finished it when I got home, two hours or so of actual reading time. This is one of those stories that at times was a little hard to read but I just couldn't put it down.

Carrie's Daws' series is populated with wise older Christians having been through the wringer and come out on the other side, they now give words of wisdom to the younger generation. This hasn't changed at all in Romancing Melody. In my opinion this is one of the best things about the Crossing Journey novels, the people live up to the verses in Timothy older women helping younger women, and the same for men.

Another well written story set in the little Oregon town of Crossing. I very much enjoyed this story, even the sadder parts, and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Crossing's Redemption.
