Each of the books in this series took about 6 months to write and edit to pre[pare it for the publisher.
The genre of this series is Historical Christian Romantic Women’s Fiction because they are more than just a romance. I love to read this kind of books, and I love to write them.
Since the series is about triplets, I love Mary. And I love Daniel, as he matured.
That you can depend on God to carry you through any trial.
After the story idea comes to me, a story will percolate in my mind for quite a while. During this time, character names come to me.
I became a widow on October 13, 2023 after 59 years with my precious husband. I have 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 granddaughter-in-law, 2 grandsons-in-law, and 10 great-grands. Most of them live close by. I have a lot of writing friends, many of whom I mentored. And my church family is precious to me.
I wish I had made some wiser decisions when I was in college.
The most important thing you can do is to know Jesus and introduce all your children to Him. A second piece of advice: Always choose kindness.
…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, the
fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death
Philippians 3:10 (NKJV)
And you will seek Me and find Me,
when you search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV)
More from Lena
I found that interesting, because there had been times over the years when I felt as if part of me was missing. I became fascinated with the connections between twins and other multiple births. This fascination planted the seed that became the stories of the McKenna Sisters series.
At one time, there was a lot of discussion about which influenced people more—heredity or environment. These discussions added depth for the story of the triplets. I prayed a lot when writing these books, and God helped me see how to connect the girls when they didn’t know about their other sisters.
They were definitely reared in totally different environments, and Mary’s was the hardest. It was difficult for me to put her through so much anguish.
