Everything he has built his life and future on has been torn away. Cash McCall has loved Dr. Renee Dawson for half his life. Although they’ve talked about a future together, she has never believed it was the right time for them to get engaged. Now she has ended their relationship, and he has no idea why. Everything Renee worked so hard for is in jeopardy. One agonizing decision has changed everything, and she has been forced to shatter the heart of the man she loves. And her own. The extremist militant group The Arm is on a mission. Its leader doesn’t care how many innocent lives are lost in the pursuit of the group’s end goal, and Renee has seen something she was not supposed to see. If Cash can’t get to her in time, Renee could end up in the crosshairs of the terrorists, and he may lose her—and any chance at the life he’d always envisioned—forever. ASIN: B095ZW9YLP |
This, I think, is probably one of the harder reviews that I've written. Not that the story was bad, by no means, it's just that it was such an emotional read and I also really don't want to give anything away.
Written In Ink is one of those stories that makes you think. I had to put it down several times in order to process, digest, ponder, whatever word you want to use, what I had just read. It was emotionally moving and even a little heart-rending in places. A friendly word, if you are the kind who cries over books you may want a box of tissues handy with this one.
Sara Davison takes on some tough and controversial topics in this book, and some more sensitive readers may even find some triggers within the pages, but as someone who has been relatively unaffected by those topics I feel that she did a decent job portraying the characters' thoughts and feelings and she was in no way judgmental. No indeed, forgiveness and love drip from every page of Written In Ink, as do faith and hope.
While most of the suspense, the initial reason that I picked up the second Rose Tattoo novel, takes place later in the book I can tell you that it was well worth reading. I don't regret reading it and I'm looking forward to seeing where Sara Davison takes her The Rose Tattoo Trilogy characters next...
