Ma & Pa Kettle On Vacation
Starring
Marjorie Main ■ Percy Kilbride
Ma and Pa Kettle receive a special letter. Elizabeth (Barbara Brown) and John (Ray Collins) have sent them tickets to New York and Paris, France. The hometown Indians, Geoduck (Oliver Blake) and Crowbar (Teddy Hart) will take care of the children. So off they fly to Paris. Unfortunately, Ma and Pa get mixed-up in a kettle of trouble. Pa accepts a mysterious letter that they must deliver to someone. There are two bad people that want the envelope too, trying to keep it from the police. Ma and Pa will do the right thing and now they can help catch the spies, with surveillance provided.
This movie is a fun spy-spoof. It is full of the things we have come to expect from the Kettles, silly dialogue, slap-stick, some tender moments, and a lot of laughs. Pa manages to get some surprisingly wise comments in, as usual.
This movie actually is more about Ma & Pa than the family. We get to see just how much Pa really does love Ma, and what lengths he will go to to save her. Pa is also quite Patriotic, he learns about the spies and is determined to be the bait to bring them in. Ma and her sense of justice should not be forgotten either, what happens in the French restaurant is hilarious! If you need an hour and a half or so of good, old fashioned, French fun than this movie is for you!
