The My Heart Belongs In... series has brought several first time reads for me. I had heard of the authors before but not actually read any of their stories. My Heart Belongs In The Shenandoah Valley: Lily's Dilemma was one of those, I'd heard of Andrea Boeshaar before but that was it.
This series has skipped around decades in the 19th century but most have been post Civil War so I was pleasantly surprised to see the date 1816 when I cracked open the book. There's a touch of Regency in this story but it is not what I would call a British Regency and I kind of liked that, I have to be in the right mood to read that particular sub-genre.
My Heart Belongs In The Shenandoah Valley: Lily's Dilemma provided a fun escape into a time long gone by, a time that may seem simpler but had its own problems and complications by the dozens. This is a rather sweet historical romance with a dash of danger and mystery, not to mention a perfectly despicable villain.
