VeggieTales: Twas The Night Before Easter
VeggieTales has been around since I was a kid and going on three generations have been learning important lessons about faith and life through the entertaining animated antics and songs of an entire garden of vegetables. This time around in Twas The Night Before Easter the edible crew learn that helping people should be more about meeting their needs than a big in-your-face production and that Easter is more than bunnies, jellybeans, crème eggs, and pastel baskets.
Over the years I've watched more VeggieTales as an adult than I did as a kid. My appreciation for the animation, fun stories, and crazy song lyrics has only grown. So, I just couldn't resist this cute Easter tale featuring a snow storm, a robot bunny, some funny jokes about all of the TV music competitions, and yes, was that really Bob the Tomato sporting a stereotypical pastor/priest haircut? As a matter of fact...If you are up for a little family fun this season with some catchy tunes try Twas The Night Before Easter...

The Passion: A Brickfilm
To be completely honest, I never intended on ever watching The Passion because my imagination is fertile enough just reading the Biblical accounts and I knew that the film would be too intense for me personally. However, when I was scrolling through Pure Flix's selection of Easter movies I found something a little unexpected and I was intrigued enough by The Passion: A Brickfilm that I was willing to check it out.
The Passion: A Brickfilm was one of the most imaginative short films that I've ever seen. The clever use of outdoor tableau style scenes featuring Lego® characters, enhanced by touches of animation, and the utilization of sound effects and background music was pretty impressive. Kudos to Brickfilm for making a movie about the Resurrection, one that elicits strong emotion without traumatization, that families can sit down and watch together...
