Celebrate Lit Blog Tour - Chase Your Dreams West by Monique Bucheger & G.L. Rasmussen (Give.away)11/26/2024
Interview with Monique and G.L.Monique's answers are in Blue and G.L.'s answers are in Green. #1. How long did it take to finish writing this book? About 9 years too long. But life happens that way sometimes. I invited a good friend, G.L., to help me write the rest of the series. We’ve also written the next 2 books in the series. In addition, he has written and drawn the illustrations for 2 picture books. We both have separate books we are writing and I have stories in two anthologies that are coming out this year. - (Monique) #2. What drew you to write in this particular genre? It depends on which genre you are asking about. The reason I write middle grade/upper middle grade is I think the tween/early teen years are fascinating. So much is going on during these formative years and kids are amazing. When you take the time to talk with them and learn about what they think is important, you may remember when life had so many possibilities. I also write contemporary, “real-life with humor” because there is a lot to love about life. The resilience of human beings and what they are capable of doing, being, and achieving when allowed to explore the world and their dreams is astonishing. And if you can do it with a friend and a sense of humor, most people are capable of amazing feats. Both of these genres work well in our Ginnie West series. Chase Your Dreams West is also technically a family drama. Something G.L. and I both like to write. - (Monique) #3. Do you have favorite character(s) in this book? Truthfully, I love them all. I am partial to Queenie West, Ginnie’s mom, because she is the only character inspired by a real person–someone who is near and dear to me and championed me when I needed a friend. She passed away years ago, but even so, her friendship inspires me and like Queenie, death doesn’t get in the way of loving her friends and family. I’m also partial to Aunt Roni. Because she’s sincere, kind, classy, and compassionate. She’s not afraid to admit when she’s wrong nor is she afraid to do what is right–even when the right thing is hard. She wants to be a part of Ginnie and Toran’s life–and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to mend the fences between the Strattons and the Wests. - (Monique) CD, Breaker, and Mrs. Parker. I created them. The other characters were in place and I had to learn to deal with them. Kind of like becoming an in-law, but glad you don’t live there. - (G.L.) #4. What do you hope your readers will take away with them when they read this book? People make mistakes and when they are sincere about making amends, forgiveness blesses everybody involved. Forgiveness is about replacing hurt and bad feelings with peace and healing. Sometimes you need to forgive people who have hurt you so you can go on with your life in a meaningful way… with or without allowing those people back into your life. - (Monique) The West’s are a microcosm of the world right now and the extraordinary steps needed to survive…and flourish. If they inspire others to do whatever it takes to make their lives meaningful and to touch others, everyone wins. - (G.L.) #5. How did you name your characters? They named themselves. - (G.L.) #6. Tell us something funny, sad, embarrassing, whatever, that happened involving this book. The many times that we authors said: I don’t know where that came from, then we knew that our creations had taken the “wheel”. - (G.L.) #7. What one piece of advice would you like to give readers? Take the time to make and be a good friend. Good friends make life an amazing experience. Don’t waste time with people who make you question your standards and beliefs or make you doubt what you know is true. Good friends lift each other up. Even if you only have one or two good friends, you are truly blessed. - (Monique) #8. Share with us a thought, Bible verse, whatever is on your mind/heart. Near the front porch of my Grandfather’s house was the only source of drinking water, a red cast iron hand pump and a ceramic pitcher next to a sign: “Always leave enough for the next one to prime the pump.” Through the years I’ve come to appreciate the eternal implications of that request. - (G.L.) Free StoryAs a FREE thank you gift for having us, you and your readers are welcome to download a short story that we wrote to introduce you to Ginnie and her family, which happens before Book 1 in our series. Ginnie & Toran’s Great Escape: More from MoniqueChase Your Dreams West: A Ginnie West Adventure took me too long to finish. I was working on it when one of my sons was killed in a car accident. I paused writing for a few years as our family adjusted to losing Ryan. An author friend invited me to a writer’s retreat a few years ago, knowing I was stuck and that week unlocked a lot of things for me. Including deciding to change where I placed what is now the first four chapters. I wrote them two books ago thinking they would make a great denouement, but after my son’s death, I realized they would make a better beginning. This book is a little different from the first four as Ginnie explores horsemanship training with her mare, Calliope–with her dad’s blessing, and perhaps is given a little help from her mom. Ginnie is given back one of her mom’s journals and gets to know the mom she doesn’t really remember and her dad didn’t really talk about… until recently.

My Review Hearts will be cracked and the realm shaken.... Wow! I thought the first book in The Fae Dynasty duology was good...but this, this I think may have been even better. Lethal Kings is one wild ride of intrigue, betrayal, mystery, and sacrifice – with just a touch of romance. Victoria McCombs kept me on the edge of my seat as Thea plays a dangerous game with the highest of all stakes – her life and that of the other Mortal Queens.... Lethal Kings and The Fae Dynasty duology is everything that I love about the fantasy sub-genre. It is deliciously dark as all stories featuring the devious, manipulative, and sometimes capricious fae should be. The twists and turns keep you guessing as you second guess the motives of pretty much every single character. And the best part? You get to read all of that without the objectionable content that often comes with stories of the fae realms. Victoria McCombs is a definite master of storytelling and worldbuilding. Both the fae and mortal realms are vividly depicted and the little things that make a story like this one great – things like history, culture, and rules of magic – are not skimped upon. The past and present are cleverly woven together so that there is a purpose and a reason for everything and each part completes the other. As you can tell I loved both of The Fae Dynasty books and I am now a confirmed fan of Victoria McCombs. Whether you are an adult or teen who loves fantasy and/or fae fiction I definitely recommend Lethal Kings and its predecessor as they are a tale you won't be able to put down.... Tell Tale Book Reviews gives Lethal Kings by Victoria McCombs a 5 Bark rating. (I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.) More from VictoriaThis book came differently to me than my other ones. It was less plot and structure, and more—what kind of book do I want to write? I wanted riddles for them to solve, which created the Gamemaster character. I wanted a healthy family aspect, which began the process of repairing the relationships I’d burned in book one. And I wanted a character who knew exactly what she wanted and never waivered from that. Other scenes came from these wishes, like the chess game where the players are the chess pieces, and the War of Hearts played in the labyrinth. Together, I think it blended nicely, and I can’t wait for readers to get ahold of it!

Will she embrace how God defines her and ultimately learn what true happiness is? Genre: Teen/Young Adult Release date: June 18, 2024 Click here to get your copy! Interview with K.J.#1. How long did it take to finish writing this book? Approximately 18 months. #2. What drew you to write in this particular genre? Books are incredibly powerful for a developing mind. My desire to write in this genre is to give young readers a wholesome read that will encourage their faith, remind them they have an eternal purpose and deepen their love for Jesus. For those who may not be Christian but are looking for a clean read, I would love the Youth Group scenes I write about to grow an interest in the reader to the point they go and find a local Youth Group to join in the fun! #3. What do you hope your readers will take away with them when they read this book? That the plan Jesus has for our lives is so much greater than we could ever have for ourselves. We just need to surrender and let Him do His great work within us. #4. If you could change one thing in your life, past or present, what would it be? There are things in a way I wish I could have a do over in, but those things have created who I am today. That is why the Bible instructs us to not look back, but to keep moving forward. The Lord is doing a great work in all of us, and our past is apart of that. Sharing our testimonies of what Jesus has done in us and brought us out from is so important to those around us, if we changed anything the impact would be lost. #5. What one piece of advice would you like to give readers? You become the company you keep. I was given that piece of advice in my early days of high school and it’s stuck with me since. As I matured, I realised it is wisdom from the Bible. 1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV “Do not be mislead: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” #6. Share with us a thought, Bible verse, whatever is on your mind/heart. The screen saver on my phone at the moment is: Blessed to be a Blessing. From the promise God gave to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3. Each of us have so much, if we practice giving what the Lord has blessed us with, we can share His love so much further and with so much greater impact to those who many be struggling around us. More from K.J.Hey! Thanks for stopping by! Casts of Silver is my debut five book series. The series is centered around five youth group leaders, with the stories looking at very real circumstances that young people face in today’s world without sugar coating consequences of individual actions. However, God is always at work. But where is He when problems arise? Well, He is always closer than you think and He’s always working for your good! Enjoy. God Bless

Genre: Western Romantic Suspense Release date: August 20, 2024 Click here to get your copy! Interview with Carole1. How long did it take to finish writing this book? I usually take longer, but this book was finished in about two months. I set my goals, prayed and kept writing, and thankfully, it was finished within the time frame I wanted it done. That usually doesn't happen. I normally take anywhere from four to six months, depending on how busy I am. 2. Do have favorite character(s) in this book? Although I loved both of my two main characters, I would have to say Jackson is my favorite. My heart went out to him for all the things he had to go through and endure. He was a strong man—but almost defeated in ways. Fortunately, Gabrielle, a new friend who never ceased caring and praying for him was there to encourage him. 3. What do you hope your readers will take away with them when they read this book? I hope that my readers of Jackson's Fall, will understand that forgiveness and faith in God will conquer all problems. Forgiveness will not only benefit the other person, but will help soothe a person's own self too. 4. How did you name your characters? Both Gabrielle and Jackson appeared in Book One (Caleb's Destiny) of this series as secondary characters. I love naming my characters and seldom regret giving them the names I give them. I wanted names that sounded (to me) old west, and these fit the bill. I have a baby name book that I resort to when I'm needing a name. I also find names through articles, other people's selections for their children, etc. Some names I've had for a long time. Someday, hopefully, the story will need that certain name. 5. What one piece of advice would you like to give readers? Do all you can do to encourage authors. Whether it be personal praise, online praise in different groups, reviews or whatever, do your part in keeping authors encouraged to never give up. It is work to create a book, and it doesn't take long to share a post about a book. Just do what you can. You just might save an author!! More from CaroleIn Jackson’s Fall, the female protagonist, Gabrielle Autumn, and her Grandparents own a bakery in the small town of Roaring Springs. Although I don’t mention this recipe in the book, it is one that I really believe Grandmama Mayfair would have baked and sold in her shop. And, perhaps, would have taught Gabrielle to make also. It’s totally delicious and diverse in that you can use whatever kind of fruit that you wish. My mother made it often in our house! A perfect dessert for a historical, western setting…and a modern day family meal. I truly hope you enjoy making and eating it at your supper table. Mountain Pie 1 cup of self rising flour ¾ cup of sugar 1 stick of butter ¾ cup of milk Fruit Filling Melt butter in baking dish Pour batter over butter Put fruit or pie filling on top of batter Bake in moderate oven (around 350 degrees), 15-20 minutes Serve as is or with ice cream.

Interview with Rebecca#1. What was the inspiration behind this book? I felt the Lord placed on my heart to share our financial crisis to let others in a similar struggle know they are not alone and that God cares for them too. #2. How long did it take to finish writing this book? My new book, Suddenly Unemployed, took approximately two years to write, critique and edit. #3. What drew you to take on this topic through non-fiction versus fiction? I enjoy writing about life's experiences and my readers can find them in publications such as Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guidepost and my new book Suddenly Unemployed. #4. Did you have a specific demographic in mind while writing this book? My hope is my readers will see God's goodness woven through our stories and be encouraged. #5. Share with us a thought, Bible verse, whatever is on your mind/heart. During our financial crisis, I clung to Jeremiah 29:11 as it gave me hope this was only a season. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I'd like my readers to know God has a good plan for their lives as well. More from RebeccaI felt lead to write Suddenly Unemployed – 52 Personal Stories of Hope & Encourgagement through Financial Crisis describing our family’s experience with job loss and financial crisis. I know firsthand not having the concentration needed to read a novel while enduring a crisis. My focus was on the basics necessities of shelter, food and clothing. Hence, I wrote fifty two bite size stories that can be read one per week for a year and split the sixteen year jouney into three distinct sections of entering, navigating and exiting the crisis. Although this time period was painful, my trust and faith in God along with personal character grew. These qualities helped navigate me through further trials such as a COVID world, California wildland fire, loss of parents, empty nest syndrome and more. Some people hide their struggles from others. I chose to openly share our story with the hope it will encourage the readers as they read about God’s goodness woven throughout our book. Perhaps they will say to themselves, “If God carried the Krusees through the toughest storme of their lives, maybe He will carry me and my family too.”

Genre: YA Fantasy (Little Mermaid Retelling) Release date: October 22, 2024 Click here to get your copy! My Review It's a race against time to save the undersea... Oh what a story this was! The Locket's Revenge is everything I had anticipated after reading the first Chronicles Of The Undersea Realm book – and a whole lot more. L.E. Richmond's storytelling and worldbuilding were every bit as vivid and skilled and I was so immersed in the story that there were times I was almost surprised I breathed air instead of seawater. The Locket's Revenge is the second half of the Chronicles Of The Undersea Realm duology which is, in my reading experience, a surprisingly unique Little Mermaid retelling – well maybe more of a nod than a direct retelling. I love fairytale retellings of many varieties but I have to say that the choice L.E. Richmond made to twine the familiar Little Mermaid tale within a YA fantasy adventure story instead of focusing on it was rather genius. Anyway, The Locket's Revenge is a must read for any Christian/Clean fantasy fan whether they be 12 or a few decades more. It is a satisfying conclusion to the Chronicles Of The Undersea Realm duology that really amps up the danger and excitement as the stakes are even higher than in book one. L.E. Richmond really nailed it with these books and I sincerely hope to see her name on more book covers in the future.... Tell Tale Book Reviews gives The Locket's Revenge by L.E. Richmond a 4.5 Bark rating. (I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.) More from L.E.Somebody is going to die. But they didn’t at first. Minor spoiler alert, a character is going to die near the end of The Locket’s Revenge. But in my first draft of this story, this person didn’t die. It wasn’t until I was going back through and trying to flesh out the book a bit that I realized that this character needed to die. My family knows that I am a discovery writer, but they still laughed when I told them how so-and-so squeaked through alive on the first draft, but the death sentence came in the second one. To me, this is actually one of the most fun things about being a discovery writer. During the drafting process, I get to experience the story for the first time, just like any reader. Most of the time, I don’t actually know what is going to happen next. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My Review
Healing never comes easy....
I've been following the Prodigal Woman series since the first book and I've gotten invested in the characters lives. Gradually they have come to feel a bit like old friends. In A Path To Healing it's Bethany's turn to find hope and, in good fantasy fashion, battle the Shadowclans with her axes. Her hero Ezra has his own battles to fight both internally and with weapons. And trust me, Lisa M. James rarely gives her characters a moment to breathe. One of the things that I have found fairly unique about the Prodigal Woman series is that author Lisa M. James covered roughly the same time period in each one and, of course, A Path To Healing has been no exception. It has been both fun and interesting to see the war with the Shadowclans through the eyes of three very different couples who each have an important part to play. I've loved getting to see the same events through two and even three of the characters' eyes and experiences. It's hard to believe that A Path To Healing is the final Prodigal Woman novel. Lisa M. James has kept me intrigued by her fantasy worldbuilding that enhances these stories of redemption and faith. Each book has been entertaining but they also make you ponder and that, I think, has been a good thing.... Tell Tale Book Reviews gives A Path To Healing by Lisa M. James a 4 Bark rating.

My Review
She'll see that justice prevails, no matter what...
This is the book I have been waiting for. Through the entire Guardians Unleashed series I have been beyond curious to find out about the mysterious and enigmatic Phoenix Gray. Finally, Terminal Danger is here and thanks to author Jerusha Agen my burning curiosity has been well satisfied. Terminal Danger was everything that I had anticipated. It fully lived up to the rest of the Guardians Unleashed books and Jerusha Agen really kept me on the edge of my seat. From the start I wondered just what kind of a hero could match Phoenix and keep up with her intelligence. Callum kind of surprised me. In some ways he is the stereotypical romantic suspense hero and yet he really isn't. I really appreciated just how much time Jerusha Agen spent in his head as well as in Phoenix's. The inside and outside perspective on each of the lead characters was both fun to read and interesting. In some ways Terminal Danger was a little bittersweet. It delivered all of the thrills, twists and turns, and excitement that I love in romantic suspense but it is also the last Guardians Unleashed novel. I finally have my answers but saying goodbye to the characters I have come to love over several books is just a tad tough. Anyway, this is a great book in a wonderful series and best of all, it has dogs. Wonderful, smart K9s who are every bit the heroes that their people are. If you haven't read them yet you are seriously missing out.... Tell Tale Book Reviews gives Terminal Danger by Jerusha Agen a 4 Bark rating.

(A Lifeline Fantasy Series Book Three. It can be read as a stand alone Genre: Religious Fantasy / Coming of Age Fantasy Release date: November 1, 2024 Click here to get your copy! Interview with Johanna1. What was the inspiration for this book? There is a prologue in the first novel I published, The Gatekeeper’s Descendants. Narrated by an unnamed character 300 years prior to the story’s setting leaves a bit of mystery for the reader. Here Lyeth is the backstory to that prologue. Hence, although Here Lyeth is the third instalment into A Lifeline Fantasy Series, I’ve set it as the ideal first read for the series. Having said that, each instalment into this series is an absolute standalone read, so any order will do! 2. What drew you to write in this particular genre? I often feel my novels do not sit squarely inside any genre box. But when one is a pantser (versus a plotter) and writes from the heart, genre boundaries are not top of mind when creating stories. It was the fantasized imagination of life in the outer courtyard of heaven that drew me to the stories I have written. Pure speculation. Pure curiosity. I’ve been using the mantra: A little heavenly imagination can loosen the chains of life. 3. Do you have favorite character(s) in this book? I do, Lexxie for sure. Life is good until it sends her for a thrashing, but... I’ll say no more …I’d like for you to read it! 4. What do you hope your readers will take away with them when they read this book? Bigger picture thinking. Having fun imagining the reunion with loved ones who have passed; applying some focus to purpose and meaning for today’s living; or perhaps even feeling something of comfort. Maybe, matters to ponder about. Plus, I dearly hope, the simple enjoyment of reading to be entertained. 5. Tell us something funny, sad, embarrassing, whatever, that happened involving this book. Well, tale (ha ha I know its tail) between my legs, I hadn’t applied enough energy to the accuracies of the historical setting (1670-1688). Edits and edits and some rewrites and then more edits to the manuscript caused a bit of stress. Lesson learned! And thank you, Jasmine, for the interview! Johanna More from JohannaA little heavenly imagination can loosen the chains of life. My ‘playground’ for creating Here Lyeth was far-reaching, though insulated with firm boundaries. From fictional Germanic villages in days of old in one corner, a low fantasy kingdom where the perished journey to the foot of a guarded gate, in the other. Admittedly, I took many privileges with beloved values and symbolisms dear to my faith, daring to employ startling imagination for the purpose of enticing generosity of thought for the great …and small …mysteries in life. My favourite, where the waters of a supranatural river flows through time carrying with it various stones, each belonging to a life on Earth, often getting caught in stormy swirls or stuck in a bank of mud, representations of its owner’s personal trials and sufferings. The story itself, though smattered with biblical senses, is not meant to be a teaching of ways, (I’m not qualified for such!) rather, to provide inklings of encouragement, to set within minds a sublime curiosity--what life might we find after this one? My hope is you will enjoy the sparkles of divine happenstances, the pulls of faith and the eager wonder of ever-after capers to be pleasing. Although the third instalment into A Lifeline Fantasy Series as far as publication dates go, Here Lyeth takes the position of first when it comes to the natural flow of time compared to its stand-alone novel-mates, The Gatekeeper’s Descendants and Jophiel’s Secret. I promise you, Here Lyeth won’t leave you hanging, though it may unearth you a little Johanna

Even as her clients in the therapy group learn to support each other in their quest for personal wholeness, Rachel yearns for a deeper connection within herself to propel her into the next stage of her life. But will it be with or without Michael? Genre: Romantic Women’s Fiction Release date: May 15, 2024 Click here to get your copy! Interview with Darlene#1. How long did it take to finish writing this book? From start to finish, less than two years. My first book and many lessons and rewrites. #2. What drew you to write in this particular genre? Because I didn’t understand the difference between romance and women’s fiction with romantic subplots, I considered it a romance. When I learned the ingredients for both, I recognized the true genre of my novel. women’s fiction, a women’s journey. #3. Do you have favorite character(s) in this book? Rachel, the protagonist, because she incorporates all the traits of many therapists. Caring, sensitive, kind, and insecure. #4. What do you hope your readers will take away with them when they read this book? First, I hope they will be entertained and touched. Second, I want them to understand that although the characters sprung from my vast imagination, the themes do not. Everyone has the ability to heal, with the right help. #5. Share with us a thought, Bible verse, whatever is on your mind/heart. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning. |
Darlene Corbett views herself as a lifelong learner, a pursuer of excellence, a work-in-progress, and a truth seeker. Serving others as a licensed psychotherapist has been her primary professional position for over thirty years. Now, she includes Author/Writer and Speaker. Her wealth of experience in human behavior prompted Darlene to write her ideas on paper, which set the stage for her book, “Stop Depriving the World of You,” published by Sound Wisdom in 2018. Darlene wrote her first novel, Visible, a women’s fiction about second chances, published by WordCrafts Press in the spring of 2024, and plans on writing two more books in this series. And right now? Also, she’s finishing a contemporary romance, the first in another series. Besides being an avid reader, Darlene loves animals, |
She’s a single mom with a disabled son. He’s been in love with her since high school. Will this shy cowboy finally win her heart? Dylan Vargas is too shy for his own good. While he and his best friend Adan work with the horses on his family’s ranch near Wickenburg, Arizona, Adan signs him up for an online dating service. Dylan begrudgingly looks through the profiles. One face stands out above the others—that of his childhood crush. There’s only one impossible problem—she is Adan’s little sister. Brisa Franco moves home to Wickenburg after a tragic car accident left her four-year-old son disabled. As she starts a new job in her hometown, she never expects to help her brother’s best friend in his quest to overcome a speech impediment. Will Dylan steal her heart as she helps him learn how to release his anxiety? Will Brisa learn to trust him and let go of her deeply engrained fears from her past relationship? |
Karen Baney is passionate about writing stories full of flawed characters. She enjoys weaving together stories of second chances, redemption, and overcoming personal trials. As a transplant to Arizona, she loves researching the state’s history and finding ways to seamlessly incorporate real history and real settings into her novels. In addition to writing and speaking, Karen works as a Software Development Manager for a Christian ministry. Her faith plays an important role both in her life and in her writing. Karen and her husband, Jim, make their home in Gilbert, Arizona, with their two dogs, Bella and Daisy. Both Jim and Karen are active at Rock Point Church in Queen Creek, Arizona. |
The Road to Chidarra, is a Christian fantasy novel based in an age when men worshipped at the altar of their cruel masters the gods, and feared the monsters and strange beings who plagued their lands with malice and terror. The cries of the people are heard, and a stranger is sent from afar to guide, protect, and bring peace to the lands. This however, comes at great cost, for the dark powers do not give in so easily, and the struggle for freedom as always, is paved with blood and sacrifice. Genre: Christian Fiction/Fantasy Release date: December 14, 2016 Click here to get your copy! |
Keith Perrin, is a Christian Author who loves to tell biblical truths in an entertaining imaginative way, without compromising the reality of the scriptures, which will inspire people to discover the Bible and The Lord Jesus Christ for themselves. Growing up he watched tons of super hero cartons, Saturday afternoon science fiction and monster movies, plus reading marvel comics. His day dreaming and wild imagination would have him experience all sorts of adventures. Soon he would put those adventures to paper, drawing and writing stories of all sorts. By far his biggest inspiration was reading the bible and bible stories at a young age that drew him closer in his relationship with this awesome God who worked might miracles and showed redemption and forgiveness to the flawed people in those stories. Flawed people just like himself. Keith’s calling is to love God, share the Gospel to all who would hear and use his talents to produce fruit for the Kingdom of God! |
The White Doe of the Outer Banks Grows into Womanhood Return to the “what if” questions surrounding the Lost Colony and explore the possible fate of Virginia Dare–the first English child born in the New World. What happened to her after her grandfather John White returned to England and the colony he established disappeared into the mists of time? Legends abound, but she was indeed a real girl who, if she survived to adulthood, must have also become part of the legacy that is the people of the Outer Banks. In the spring of 1602 by English reckoning, “Ginny,” as she is called by family and friends, is fourteen and firmly considered a grown woman by the standards of the People. For her entire life she has watched the beautiful give-and-take of the Kurawoten and other native peoples with the English who came from across the ocean. She’s enjoyed being the darling of both English and Kurawoten alike—but a stirring deep inside her will not be put to rest. |
Transplanted to North Dakota after more than two decades in the Deep South, Shannon McNear loves losing herself in local history. She’s the author of four novellas, the first a 2014 RITA® nominee and the most recent a 2021 SELAH winner, and six full-length novels. Her greatest joy, however, is in being a military wife, mom, mother-in-law, and grammie. She’s been a contributor to Colonial Quills and The Borrowed Book, and is a current member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Writers. When not cooking, researching, or leaking story from her fingertips, she enjoys being outdoors, basking in the beauty of the northern prairies. |
Reading and history have been my passion since early childhood when my parents encouraged both. I was introduced to Christian fiction around age 4-5 while listening to radio drama adaptations of books by great authors including Janette Oke. I have been a voracious reader and avid library patron ever since. I started Tell Tale Book Reviews in December 2012. I am also an active volunteer in the areas I hold most dear, library, museum, and pets. Hobbies include a small bead jewelry business, watching classic movies/ TV, listening to Irish/Celtic music, and autograph collecting.
