Several years ago I read my first Jocelyn Green book, the start of her Civil War series, and I was hooked. Her no-nonsense writing style and the fact that she didn't shy away from the nitty-gritty, and darker, parts of history was right up my alley. No fluff and endless tea parties here! Since then, I've eagerly looked forward to each of her new releases.
I knew even before I had A Refuge Assured in my hands that I was in for a real treat and that I would learn some amazing stuff about history while being entertained by fiction. And I was in no way disappointed! From the gorgeous cover, loved the touches of 'lace', to the historical note at the end, Jocelyn Green kept engaged and engrossed.
A Refuge Assured is a wonderful story filled with fascinating history wrapped in a poignant tale of loss, love, family, faith, and finding peace in terrifying times.
