If A Man Answers
starring
Sandra Dee ■ Bobby Darin ■ Stefanie Powers ■ Cesar Romero
Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin co-star in a devilishly wicked romantic comedy about the lengths people will go to win the game of love. Rich, beautiful and stylish socialite Chantal Stacy (Dee) has just married charming, talented photographer Eugene Wright (Darin). On the advice of her mother, Chantal tries to "train" her man to be the perfect husband. But once he's on to her womanly wiles, Eugene answers with some jealousy-baiting tactics in this fun-filled battle of the sexes.
So, I really didn't intend on doing two Sandra Dee / Bobby Darin movies so close together but I just couldn't help it. If A Man Answers was so hysterically funny it had my parents and I just rolling with laughter. Every switch on a switch on a switch just added to the hilarity. You never quite know what to expect next.
This is definitely one movie I will buy if I get the chance. I have a suspicion I could watch it over and over and still laugh at all the right places. Most of the movie will go over kids's heads but their parents, and even older siblings if they enjoy older/classic movies, will totally get it. This is a great romantic comedy, I wish they still made them this good, and you can't go wrong spending the 100+ minutes watching this movie.

Quotes
Germaine Stacy: It's amusing. In France when the daughter is brought home early, *then* the father begins to worry.
Eugene: May I remind you that New York is full of great restaurants, very few of which serve peanut butter. For a buck and a half an hour, the dishes will disappear. And as for companionship, well I have a little black book with the names and phone numbers of 111 models Bachelorhood is the ideal state for a man. Marriage, little Miss Stacy, is an institution sponsored by women for women. Chantal: Oh, mama, I am so afraid. Germaine Stacy: Of love? Chantal: Of being disappointed in it. Germaine Stacy: Shoo-shoo, if you come to love and say to it "If you're so wonderful, please me, satisfy me, fulfill me", then you probably will be disappointed. It all depends on what you yourself bring to it. Don't you disappoint love. Chantal: A man is a man until he marries, then he becomes a husband! Germaine Stacy: Your father came to Paris for one week to import antiques. He had one book of traveler's checks, two changes of pajamas. He used all the checks, none of the pajamas. And the only thing he imported was moi. |
