I'm making a confession here, since I don't have kids of my own yet I picked up this book on pure nostalgia. You see, I grew up on the Little Critter, and similar, books, first sitting on my parents laps and then as some of the earliest books that I read myself. I even read my old ones again just for fun when I was a teenager. There is something timeless about the little moral lessons that Mercer Mayer shares through Little Critter and Little Sister. Honestly, I had just as much fun reading this Little Blessings Collection as and adult as I would have had as a kid.
The Little Critter Little Blessings Collection is a great little book. From the quality of the hardcover, which should hold up to kids for awhile, to the colorful and familiar illustrations. Lessons on taking turns, telling the truth, thankfulness, and forgiveness, have never been such fun to learn...or as adorable... This book is definitely going to stay in my book collection and will be shared with any little kids that cross my path.
Oh, and as a suggestion from a kid that LOVED having her parents read to her, parents and grandparents, this would be a great book to sit down and read to your little (grand)kids. And you never know, you might find a little bit older kids pretending not to listen while they are doing just that...
