I have to confess that while I have been really loving The Funeral Fakers, I just wasn't able to get into this one as easily as the others. Not that I didn't like it by any means, Mourning Star just didn't quite capture me in the same way.
On the minus side were a few series continuity issues, sometimes hard to tell where scene breaks were, and some leaps in activity leaving you wondering how/why the character even got there. On the plus side is one of the quirkiest heroines yet in the series, the fact that she is a mature woman with adult children, and that Ava Mallory does do a good job of keeping the reader guessing as to who knocked off the deceased.
All that being said, Mourning Star was quite the read with lots of twists and turns and made an interesting addition to this fun and funny series. You really won't want want to miss a single of these charming cozy mysteries...
