The Magnolia Duchess
Gulf Coast Chronicles book 3
by Beth White
-From the back cover- As the War of 1812 rages across the newly formed United States, another war rages in Fiona Lanier's heart – one threatens to tear her family apart. Fiona can scarcely take in the news of her brother's capture and imprisonment by the British Navy. It is almost as unbelievable as the half-drowned British sailor who is washed ashore on the beach of Navy Cove. Charles Kincaid claims to have no memory of his life before being discovered by Fiona, but in a world that seems saturated with treachery, she cannot be sure he is telling the truth. As Charlie's memory returns in agonizing jags and crashes, he and Fiona discover that falling in love may be as inevitable as the tide. But when political allegiances collide, they'll have to decide where their true loyalties lie. ISBN-13: 978-0800721992 Danger awaits at every turn! | This Book received a 4 Bark rating. |
The Magnolia Duchess was a fascinating look into one of America's lesser written about wars, the War of 1812. I was delighted to read about another generation in the Lanier family and I quickly came to like Fiona. She was such a mix of tough naivety, and neither the reader nor Charlie quite knows what to expect from her next.
The Magnolia Duchess was an enjoyable read, from the pretty cover to the last word of the author's note. Beth White is a talented author, not only could I just about feel the heat and smell the surf, but I felt like I was right there experiencing everything along with the characters.
History, adventure, intrigue, and romance make Beth White's latest installment in the Gulf Coast Chronicles, The Magnolia Duchess, a book well worth reading.
Tell Tale Book Reviews gives The Magnolia Duchess by Beth White a 4 Bark rating.
