What do Pirates and God have in common? Normally, one might say nothing at all! That’s exactly what I thought twenty years ago when I distinctly heard God tell me to write a novel about a Christian Pirate. What? I thought I was hearing things. What publisher in their right mind would publish a book like that? Nevertheless, I obeyed that heavenly voice, and I can honestly say it’s been an incredible adventure upon the high seas ever since!
A Christian publisher did pick up that first book, The Redemption, though I was a nobody with no writing experience whatsoever. It was unheard of and quite a miracle, which made me know I was on the right track…God’s track. I have since written close to thirty novels, but my pirate series, Legacy of the King’s Pirates, is by far my favorite.
But how do I write a Christian book about pirates? Easy. You might say I was a bit of a pirate myself before I came to my senses and turned to Jesus. Not in the sense that I was a thief upon the seas, but I was running away from God for many years and doing things I ought not do. Those lessons I learned from my past and even after I got saved are things I want to share with others so hopefully they won’t make the same mistakes. Hence, each of my now seven pirate books have a deep spiritual lesson embedded within the story.

Each book follows a descendant or relative of the couple who started it all in The Redemption, so if you like family sagas, you’ll love this series. Of course there are other themes besides these main ones, and all of them are intricately woven in very romantic and highly adventurous stories. I always add an element of the supernatural as well, things such as miracles, demons, and even angels. These are not your ordinary stories at all!
