After Holt McKnight's criminal informant disappears, the DEA agent must go undercover to get close to the missing man's sister, who may know more than she's letting on. But when Blair Sullivan's attacked, it's up to him to protect her—without blowing his cover. Blair isn't sure she can trust her new neighbor, Holt. After all, the last charming and handsome man she fell for was her late husband, and he turned out to be the brother of a ruthless drug lord. 1: Do you have a favorite character(s) in Concealed Identity?
Well, of course! First I adore Holt. Also, I was taken by Beckett Marsh and I just knew the minute I put him on the page he needed a story so that will be out in April. And…dare I say it but Hector Salvador. I know. I know he’s the head of a drug cartel. But he’s fascinating because of his twisted sense of family and loyalty. He is a protector and a man of his word but he’s absolutely ruthless. It’s crazy. I know.

2: What comes next for you and where do you see yourself in the future?
2017 is super busy for me in the sense of all the work I did in 2016 is coming to fruition. I have two more Love Inspired Suspense coming out in April and July. A devotional with Guideposts releasing in April, and a romantic comedy releasing with a collection and then as a standalone in March! I’m currently working on two more LIS books in a miniseries that I’m under contract for. So I’ll write them this year and they’ll release in 2018. Also my daughter is a senior this year and off to college, so I’m one less kid in the house in the future. It’s bittersweet. I hope to keep writing books as long as the Lord allows! |
3: Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I started out as a pantser. I knew some but not a lot and I researched as I went and let the story freeflow. When I was contracted with Love Inspired Suspense, they expect a full synopsis on each book and they buy your book based on synospes (after the first 2 full manuscripts…you can only sell the first two with a full). So I had to learn to know my story before I write it. I’ve done that so many times now that I sort of need it when I write my indie books, though it’s more of an outline than a full synopsis when I write them. ☺

4: What is the craziest thing you've done in the name of research?
Once, I wanted to authentically know what it felt like to be blindfolded and tossed in a trunk then I wanted to see if I could count turns. So I let my friend blindfold me, tie my hands behind my back and put me in the trunk of her vehicle. She forgot she’d purchased groceries and canned goods rolled around hitting me, then she picked up speed and I lost count of turns and when it was over, I was genuinely freaked out. Can you imagine if she’d been pulled over by a police officer and he searched her car? Ha! |
