I have never been big on fantasy stories but in recent years I have discovered some wonderful fantasy books from publishers I enjoy and trust, and Emissary is one of the best. I discovered Thomas Locke's writing several years ago with his fantasy/sci-fi series for kids, the Spectrum Chronicles, so I jumped at the chance to read and review Emissary. The story didn't disappoint at all. When I entered the Realm I was taken prisoner right away and just couldn't put it down. In fact, I finished it in only one day. Written in the tradition of Lord Of The Rings it is a well thought out and truly magical world. Elves, humans, wizards, and an epic quest. Everything needed to make a good fantasy story. |  This Book received a 4 Bark rating.

I have to say one of my favorite parts was the addition of Hyam's closest traveling companions, both human and not. They are quirky, flawed, sometimes a little humorous, and always ready for adventure. One of my favorite characters was Dama, wise and loyal, she is one of Hyam's greatest assets on his quest.
Emissary will appeal not only to adults by a YA audience as well. Fantasy fans are in for a real treat with Thomas Locke's latest book!
