Alaskan Courage book 2
by Dani Pettrey
-From the back cover- With All the Evidence Against Him, Only a Sister's Trust Can Save Him Now WHEN HER PRODIGAL BROTHER'S RETURN TO Yancey, Alaska is shattered by his arrest for murder, Piper McKenna is determined to protect him. Deputy Landon Grainger loves the McKennas like family, but he's also sworn to find the truth. And he knows those closest to you have the power to deceive you the most. With his sheriff pushing for a quick conviction, some unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the truth put Landon's career in jeopardy. When Piper launches her own investigation, Landon realizes he must protect her from herself – and from whatever complications await as the two follow clues deep in Canada's backcountry. Not only does their friendship seem to be turning into something more, but this dangerous case is becoming deadlier with each step. Suspense and Romance at their best! Everything is ratcheted up in the second Alaskan Courage book – the excitement, adventure, danger, romance... I really liked the first book, Submerged, I loved Shattered, now I am really looking forward to the third book, Stranded. | . . This Book earned a 5 Bark rating. . . Visit Dani's Website HERE |
Piper and Landon are some of the most likable characters I have read about in awhile. Landon is a good guy just doing his job, while trying to protect Piper and nail the killer – whoever he is. Piper is a smart cookie, a little impulsive, and fiercely loyal.
I think this book appealed to me because the focus was a little more on the suspense and slightly less on the romance. But believe me, this book delivers plenty of both! I could hardly put this book down. At the end of each chapter I kept saying “Just one more chapter, just one more”, and I really did mean it every time, honest! Part of the storyline seemed like it could have been taken from the headlines, it kept me glued to the pages.
One of the threads in Shattered was how God will often tug the heart using family or friends and then use circumstances to finally bring the person fully to Him. To me, it also was a reminder that our lives should be a witness but ultimately it is God that brings people to Him. None of the McKennas beat their non- Christian family and friends over the head, but they also live their beliefs in every way.
