Military Investigations: Serving their country and solving crimes I was a little reluctant at first to try the Love Inspired Suspense books but I've gotten hooked on these quick reads. They give a great story in a little package, longer than a novella but still shorter than a full size novel. I haven't read very many of them yet but I think The General's Secretary will be one of my favorites. Lots of family secrets, danger, romance, suspicion, questions, lies... Plenty to keep you riveted to your seat for a couple of hours or so. Debby Giusti does a good job keeping the reader both interested and guessing. I had pinned down who I thought the killer was in the first half of the book but as the story went on I started to second guess myself because of the plot twists... Turned out my first guess was a lucky one but there were more reasons behind it than I had first thought. |  . . This Book earned a 3.5 Bark rating.

One of my favorite things about the book was Lillie's foster parents, the McKinneys, and their love and support for Lillie. They aren't the stereotypical foster family but are instead loving Christians that care for and want to protect Lillie.
Likable characters, a good mystery, great setting, all made reading The General's Secretary like watching a mystery movie, perfect for a snowy afternoon or a rainy evening at home.
