If you like gritty romantic suspense. If you are into tales of survival. If stories featuring strong women who will go to any lengths to protect their child(ren). Well, have I got the story for you! Frost Heaves is the third book in author Alana Terry's riveting Alaskan Refuge Christian Suspense series. And boy, is it a doozy! I absolutely could not put the book down. I read it late into the night until I literally couldn't keep my eyes open any longer and I picked it back up to finish the last few chapters first thing in the morning before I even got up for the day.
As is her wont Alana Terry took on some difficult topics that people face today. Briefly touching on race tension she focused more on church cults that enslave their followers through fear and off the wall interpretations of the Bible. But for me Frost Heaves was even more about healing from the pain of the past and it's about one tough cookie who will do whatever it takes to protect her little girl.
The Alaskan winter landscape comes to life very vividly in this book, with its short days and long nights. I found the descriptions of the area around Glenallen, a real town, by the way, to be fascinating.
I really enjoyed Frost Heaves, it's a real toss-up whether this is my favorite book in the series, and would definitely recommend it to fans of the grittier side of the Christian romantic suspense genre. Alana Terry is a whiz at the genre and I seriously hope she continues on with more similar books because, I for one, will be more than glad to devour them like I did this one.
Tell Tale Book Reviews gives Frost Heaves by Alana Terry a 4.5 Bark rating.
More from Alana
In fact, I love it so much, I thought to myself, “I want to share the beauty of where we live with my readers.” And the best way I could think of to do that was to write a three-book, standalone series showcasing some of the wonderful things about Alaska living. However, it wouldn’t be an Alana Terry series without a lot of exciting, fast-paced suspense readers have grown to love. Identity Theft, Termination Dust, and Frost Heaves are filled with action, adventure, mystery and even a little bit of romance. |
Alana is a pastor’s wife, homeschooling mom, self-diagnosed chicken lady, and Christian suspense author. Her novels have won awards from Women of Faith, Book Club Network, Grace Awards, Readers’ Favorite, and more. Alana’s passion for social justice, human rights, and religious freedom shines through her writing, and her books are known for raising tough questions without preaching. She and her family live in rural Alaska where the northern lights in the winter and midnight sun in the summer make hauling water, surviving the annual mosquito apocalypse, and cleaning goat stalls in negative forty degrees worth every second. |
