I knew I would love The Lady And Wish but I just wasn't too sure about the heroine. Face it, she wasn't the most pleasant character in the past and I had no idea how J.M. Stengl was going to get me to like her. She did it, though. It took awhile for me to warm up to Gillian but by the end of the story I really was rooting for her to survive Lady Beneventi's crazy antics, save her family, and finally figure out that love is more important than titles and money.
The Lady And The Wish is most definitely another winner in J.M. Stengl's charming Faraway Castle series. And while I didn't exactly recognize the fairytale it was based on, King Thrushbeard, it was a truly entrancing tale and it has inspired me to look for the original fairytale.
The Lady And The Wish was a story that I sincerely enjoyed reading. While it may be aimed at an audience, YA, that I aged out of several years ago I will tell you that NO ONE is too old for a well-written fairytale retelling like this one.
Tell Tale Book Reviews gives The Lady And The Wish by J.M. Stengl a 5 Bark rating.
