The Long, Long Trailer
Starring
Lucille Ball ■ Desi Arnaz
Nicky and Tacy are going to be married. Nicky wants to save up money for a house, but Tacy dreams of starting off with their own home on wheels--a trailer. After the two are hitched, they hitch up their trailer and begin their honeymoon. The humor comes from several disastrous adventures the couple has while traveling including Tacy's awkward attempt to cook dinner in a moving trailer, and a cliffhanging ride through the mountains that nearly destroys their marriage. What can possibly happen when you take Lucy and Desi, put them in a tiny space on wheels, and send them out on the road? Laughter and mayhem, that's what! The first time I watched this movie was less than a year after I had spent a week in a 1970's motorhome on a 2,000 mile trip with 6 other family members - ranging in ages from my brother at 12 to my Grandpa in his mid 70's. You can take it from me that everything you see in The Long, Long Trailer is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE! It happened to me and it could happen to you! Of course my advice is to leave 2,000 mile trip with crazy relatives out of it and watch the move instead. It is a lot less stressful and so much more fun. This movie is one that the entire family can watch with no problems. It is clean, funny, and what good classic movies are made of. In future years you will find your family jokingly yelling "Trailer brakes first! Trailer brakes first!" Interesting scenery, lovely 1950's clothing, great chemistry between Lucy and Desi, quotable lines, and tons of funny moments. It's hard to get a better comedy than this one! . . . . . . 103 Minutes | Principal Cast Lucille Ball ... Tacy Bolton - Collini Desi Arnaz ... Nicholas 'Nicky' Collini Marjorie Main ... Mechanic: Think of it as a train behind you. Forty feet of train. Nicholas Collini: It's a fine thing when you come home to your home and your home is gone! Tacy: Get that check back. I was going to get us a deepfreeze. Nicholas Collini: [gesturing to the in-laws staring coldly at them] You're getting a deepfreeze right now. Tacy: You didn't let me finish. I was going to say 'turn right here left'. Nicholas Collini: Turn right here left? Have you any conception how much room it takes to turn this thing around? We may have to go on for miles. Nicholas Collini: Been married long? Mr. Tewitt: About 31 years. Nicholas Collini: Have many fights? Mr. Tewitt: Nope. Nicholas Collini: Then take my advice: don't buy a trailer. |
